Gilli-Danda is a traditional game played in India and other parts of South Asia. It involves two sticks: a longer stick called the “danda” and a smaller stick known as the “gilli.” The game is played by striking the gilli in the air with the danda, and players score points based on how far they hit the gilli.

To play Gilli-Danda, one player holds the gilli on one end and tosses it into the air. Using the danda, the player then strikes the gilli, aiming to hit it as far as possible. The other players try to catch the gilli or retrieve it and quickly throw it back to the striker. If a player successfully hits the gilli and it travels a significant distance, they earn points based on the distance achieved.

Gilli-Danda requires skill, precision, and hand-eye coordination. Players need to time their swings accurately to hit the gilli with the right amount of force. It is a game that promotes outdoor activity, friendly competition, and traditional play. Gilli-Danda is not only a recreational pastime but also a cultural heritage, connecting people to their roots and preserving the traditions of the region.
